Shit Altars

Poetic terrorist installations in bathrooms at a bougie ski resort. Shitting is a sacred act, a funeral for the parts of us that we no longer need, the red blood cells, hormones, and food waste that have done the labor to sustain us, now discarded into rich organic material that can be used to support new life. The toilet is a magician and a black hole-- disappearing these parts of ourselves so we never have to face them. Sewage is a purgatory-- where potential life goes to rot for all of eternity. We have traded in our body's interconnectedness with the life and death cycles of the earth for the illusion of ourselves as cleanly, civilized people-- turning the most natural and universal process into a shameful taboo.
